HIV & STD RISK PREVENTION
Substance abuse affects your brain and inhibits your judgment. The effects of either drugs or alcohol may cause you to make poor decisions that may put you at risk for transmitting HIV and other sexual transmitted diseases. If you are an IV (intravenous) drug user, you are at an even higher risk.
There are also some individuals who are at high risk for HIV and other sexual transmitted diseases due to their current situation. Here at Mindset we service those individuals by assessing their sexual history and whether they would benefit from beginning PREP. Clients will have to have labs drawn periodically for this drug and counseling is mandatory. They will be educated about the drug and any necessary precautions needed. They will also be tested for most other STD's as well.
